From the very beginning, Sarah Lawrence College has been a pioneer of innovative educational programs. Originally a college intended to instruct women in the arts and humanities, Sarah Lawrence soon developed into a full-fledged liberal arts and sciences program and committed to coeducation in 1968.

The Esther Raushenbush Library is located across from Andrews Lawn, west of the corner of Glen Washington Road and Mead Way. The public is welcome to visit the library from opening until 8:30 p.m. each day of the week. Please note that a Sarah Lawrence College ID card is needed to gain access to the library after 8:30 p.m.

Sarah Lawrence College occupies 44 wooded acres in Yonkers, NY, near the Village of Bronxville—just north of New York City. A 30-minute train ride from the Bronxville station takes students into Midtown Manhattan.
