The University of Sharjah was established in 1997 with the aim and vision to contribute to the qualities shared by renowned universities around the world.


The University of Sharjah is an innovative world-class teaching, learning and research institution providing a distinctive, inspirational, creative and supportive environment.


Upon directions from His Highness, The Chancellor of the University of Sharjah called for a meeting with research representatives of all colleges on 26  February 2014 to discuss the current status of research at UoS and how to promote research at the university with the aim of becoming competitive on an international level.

Student services

It welcomes the students and guardians, respond to their inquiries, reply on the department's emails and phone calls, and organize the admission, registration and finance process, guide the students to apply for the required services electronically and assisting other departments.

Housing services

The University provides accommodation in a safe and friendly atmosphere, conducive to academic achievement.

Student accommodations are located on campus in close proximity to the University classrooms. Each dormitory includes a lounge area, large kitchen, multi-purpose activity room, TV lounge, study hall, computer labs, convenience store and laundry and dry-cleaning facilities. All dorms offer free wireless highspeed Internet (WIFI) to students.

Visitors are welcome during visiting hours and experienced supervisors are on hand at all times to assist and to help maintain a comfortable atmosphere for all residents.

Medical services

The University provides 24-hour medical clinics and ambulance services for students in case of emergencies.

Campus life

Our spacious campus provides all facilities necessary for comfortable living on campus.The University of Sharjah is a residential university with over 2,000 students living on campus. Students have access to extraordinary campus resources and a wide range of cultural and social activities and opportunities. Everything from food and athletics to healthcare is available within a short walk and at reasonable prices and convenient hours. Our two sports complexes provide facilities for sports of all types, including swimming, tennis and football.

Sports facilities

The main campus features two fully-equipped and state-of-the-art sports complexes, (one for men and one for women )which include Olympic-size swimming pools, several multipurpose indoor sports halls, and gymnasiums. 

The main campus also features a standard-size soccer field together with a running track and outdoor lighting.Sports available at the University include body building, swimming, volleyball, karate, shooting, aerobics, yoga, bowling, table tennis, chess, billiards, tennis, squash, football, snooker, and basketball.Students who excel in athletics may be awarded scholarships to complete their studies.

Student clubs

The University's large multicultural student population invites for a diverse range of clubs, societies, and unions as well as academic societies, which are supported by the Deanship for Student Affairs.

Art and theatre activities include the performing arts, fine arts and calligraphy.

Our Student Unions give students a voice at the University and an opportunity to compete in debates and build their social skills.​

The University's scout troop, the Student Rovers, is avidly supported by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Muhammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of the University.


The University is fully licensed and all its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the Ministry of Education in the United Arab Emirates. The University aims to obtain accreditation and recognition for its programs from international accreditation and recognition.

I got to be on campus only for one semester then online for other two semesters thanks to corona it nice experience but needs little developing in facilities. Fees are expensive but scholarships are available. Pharmacy programme needs to be more practicle.

Actually i went to two different universities, the first experience was in sharjah University in uae, I studied dentistry for 1 year only then I moved to Egypt to transfer from dentistry to experience has been a mix of both positive times & challenges which I had already anticipated before starting especially in Egypt because I had to deal with everything alone...

The university is huge and beautifully designed. It has a lot of programs to choose from. They mostly have Arabs and so even though the courses are offered in English, sometimes the professors will speak in Arabic to clear concepts for the Arab students which can be quite irritating for the non-Arabs. In fact, even the emails from the university are mostly in Arabic with...
