By the fall of 1926, when the first class of 646 full-time students enrolled at the University of Miami, the land boom had collapsed, and hopes for a speedy recovery were dashed by a major hurricane. In the next 15 years the University barely kept afloat. The collapse in South Florida was a mere prelude to a national economic depression.
The University of Miami’s 11 schools and colleges offer a wide variety of experiences to students. There are more than 180 undergraduate majors and programs; graduate students have access to a wide range of fields with an emphasis on research.

The Federal Reserve Board provides an excellent environment for career minded graduates to apply their knowledge and experiences amongst other intellectually curious professionals. We incorporate modern technology, extensive research, and some of the brightest minds in our decision making. We have met many qualified candidates while attending the Career Expos and now have an extensive UM alumni network at the Board.
The Office of Student Services (OSS) supports the mission of the School of Nursing and Health Studies (SONHS) and works closely with current and prospective undergraduate and graduate students to assist them through all aspects of their University of Miami experience. OSS empowers students to take charge of their education by educating them about their academic requirements, connecting them with their on-campus resources, and encouraging them to plan for graduation and beyond so that they may participate fully in the future of nursing, public health, and health sciences as well-rounded, culturally-competent individuals.

Over 60 computer labs are located throughout campus. UM is an equity member of the Florida LambdaRail, providing 10Gbps connectivity throughout the state and to the National LambdaRail. Secured and guest wireless networks on the 3 main campuses complement the extensive wired network.
The Student Health Service provides primary care clinical services and specialty services such as women's health, travel visits and allergy injections. Students may choose to be seen on a drop in basis, however we encourage students to make an on-line appointment.

The University of Miami’s Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is dedicated to developing and supporting its more than 400 student-athletes in their efforts to achieve personal, academic, and athletic excellence.
The Young Alumni Leadership Council (YALC) is an invitation-only, national group of the University of Miami's young alumni leaders, nominated and selected to serve the University on behalf of the Young Alumni Program. Reasons I would recommend: the academics are good, the majority of the professors are skilled and will help you if you are having difficulty with the course, additionally the university services are great, there is a gym, tutoring, a career center... and many more facilities all designed for you to thrive during your college years and take full advantage of your time....
If there is one aspect of Miami's Motion Pictures program I could applaud most, it would be their Los Angeles program. You are able to intern in LA during a spring semester while taking classes and participating in a weekly masterclass.
