Overview
The mission of the Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric and Earth Science is to deepen our collective knowledge of our planet through cutting-edge scientific research on the oceans, atmosphere, geology, biota, and the human dimension, while training the next generation of scientists.
Goals
Students in this Meteorology and Mathematics program at the University of Miami, acquire valuable technical skills and learn how to apply their knowledge to real-world problems, in a time of changing climate and increasing stress on Earth’s resources and environment.
The program will provide the rigor, flexibility, depth and integration to enable students to:
- Pursue a course of study that provides both depth and breadth in Meteorology and Mathematic courses.
- Prepare themselves for public and private sector employment, graduate school, and successful careers.
- Students should gain substantial problem solving and critical reasoning skills, and they should develop an understanding of the conceptual underpinnings of mathematics and meteorology.

General requirements
- Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee
- Students are required to respond to one of seven Common App prompts in a personal statement of 650 words or less
- Be sure to include a thorough list of your extracurricular activities as they are part of the holistic review process
- Submit test scores (optional)
- All students whose native language is not English are required to submit official results of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), or Duolingo English Test (DET)
- You are required to submit one letter of recommendation/evaluation, which can be from either a school counselor or a teacher
- If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)
