In 1967, after a longstanding relationship with St Andrews, the University of Dundee came into formal existence. From then, Dundee was free to develop in its own way and become the outstanding institution it is today.
The University of Dundee is organised into ten Schools containing multiple disciplines, each with an associated research centre or unit.

Excellent research requires excellent ideas and Dundee’s research is highly rated by the most recent Research Excellence Framework (2022), which assesses the quality and impact of research submitted by universities across the UK. Dundee was, once again, named the top UK University for biological sciences, and achieved excellent results across disciplinary clusters of Mathematical Sciences, Computer Science and Informatics, and Engineering – all of which ranked in the UK top 30. Furthermore, 84% of the University’s research was found to be ‘world leading’ or ‘internationally excellent’.
The University of Dundee has some of the best levels of graduate employment in the UK and is 1st in Scotland for graduate prospects for the proportion of graduates who agree that their activity is on track with their future plans (Complete University Guide 2022).
Dundee has a dedicated Careers Service, offering a range of services to help students and graduates enhance their employability and pursue their career goals.
Careers Advisers are available to support students at every stage of their degree and after they graduate, with one-to-one appointments, CV clinics and mock interviews on offer.
The Global Student Satisfaction Awards empower students across the globe to determine the best universities of 2021. Universities with a score above 4.0 (out of 5) in any of the 8 award categories, receive Badges of Excellence. Congratulations!
A range of services are available at the University of Dundee which are designed to support students during their studies including:
Dundee’s Library and Learning Centre (LLC) comprises of four library sites as well as a virtual library. Located on city campus, Dundee’s main library offers everything you would expect from a modern university library, including a café and relaxation areas, group study rooms with the latest technology, and flexible, creative spaces.
While the university services and the student associations are really good, the over-recruitment of students and understaffed departments short-changed the student experience. There is a massive degradation in the quality of course delivery, not to mention the severe accommodation crisis the reckless recruitment has caused in the city.
I will start in September
