Our courses are designed with employability in mind. Over 300 employers visit campus each year, collaborating with students through vacancies, placements and consultancy projects. Our Careers Service is there to support you during your studies and after you graduate. We offer a range of student services that provide different types of support to help you work to your full potential and make the most of your student experience. Services include everything from Academic Skills to Counselling and Disability Services.
We also have a dedicated International Advice Service, which provides immigration and practical guidance for living and studying in the UK. The team also arrange welcome events, along with many social and cultural events throughout the year.
Peer Connectors offer a buddy system to help you settle in once you arrive in Dundee. They can show you around and help you meet, mix, and socialise with other students.
A variety of single-occupancy accommodation options are available on or near campus. All our student accommodation types are furnished with shared kitchens, private bedrooms, and en-suite bathrooms. We guarantee entrant full-time students starting in September one offer of accommodation if they apply by the relevant deadline (terms and conditions apply).
There are also options to find your own accommodation in Dundee or nearby. Our Students’ Association offers an advice service to those not using University arranged accommodation.
Library Services provide a wide range of resources to support learning, teaching, and research.
There are four libraries available to students. The Main Library, at the heart of campus, offers electronic and printed resources, diverse study spaces such as group study rooms, breakout areas, and solo pods. Plus, there is a café and comfortable seating areas for breaks.
The Main Library offers IT facilities including printing, laptops for short-term loan, a Create Space providing 3D printers, and much more. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout campus and in our student residencies.
IT support is provided by the University Service Desk and is available seven days a week.
The University Health Service is available on campus and offers a range of health-related advice and services for students. These include a counselling service, sexual health clinics, and advice on how to register with a doctor and dentist upon arrival in Dundee.
Our city-centre campus has everything you’ll need in one place, including the library, lectures and teaching areas, the Students’ Union, accommodation, and the gym.
Dundee is a perfect student city – it’s compact, friendly, and easy to get around, yet bursting with all the entertainment and opportunities of big-city life. Dundee is also known for being more affordable than other cities in the UK.
From campus, it’s just a short distance to the city’s cultural attractions, shops, cafes, bars, and restaurants. The train and bus stations are also close by, making it easy to explore the best that the UK has to offer. Bus travel in Scotland is also free for those under 22 years of age.
Sport and Active Health (SpAH) offer a range of high-class sport and exercise facilities on campus, including tennis courts, a swimming pool, and a spacious gym with a specialist strength training area, exercise studios, and a cycle studio. SpAH also offers over 40 exercise classes a week. With such a wide variety of facilities and classes available, you can find the best option for you.
On campus, you will find Dundee University Students’ Association (DUSA). DUSA supports more than 150 sports clubs and student societies, making it easy for you to meet other students with the same interests, or try something completely new. DUSA is also home to a café bar – the ideal place for meeting up with your friends for coffee or lunch.

As a new student in UNILAG, my experience so far has been good. The academic environment is serious and competitive, and it encourages students to be focused. The campus is conducive for learning and the student community is lively. However, some school processes like registration can be stressful because of the large population. Overall, UNILAG is a good university and I would recommend it to students who are ready to work hard.
Overall, the University of Lagos is a great institution, and I genuinely enjoy being a student here. I am in the Department of History and International Relations, and while the academic experience can be rewarding, it also requires a high level of self-discipline. One of the main challenges I have faced is the inconsistency in teaching. Some lecturers do not engage actively in class, and in certain cases, students are left to study most topics on their own. There are also instances where lecturers go on sabbatical leave and return close to exam periods, which can make learning more difficult. However, this has pushed me to become more independent and proactive in my studies. On the positive side, the university offers a vibrant campus life. There are several programs, forums, and student-led initiatives that support personal, professional, and even health development. These opportunities make the overall experience enjoyable and help students grow beyond academics. The reason I rated the school 4 stars instead of 5 is mainly due to the accommodation issue. There are limited hostel spaces available, and the allocation process can sometimes feel unfair, with cases of favoritism and nepotism. This leaves many students without access to on-campus housing, forcing them to seek accommodation off-campus, which is often very expensive and not always convenient. Despite these challenges, I still find the University of Lagos to be a fascinating place to study. The campus environment is lively and engaging, even for someone like me who prefers to stay indoors most of the time unless attending lectures or running errands. Overall, I would recommend this university to prospective students, especially those who are self-motivated and willing to take charge of their own learning experience.
Studying at the University of Lagos was a huge experience for me. If I have to be honest, it is a place that shows you the real world very quickly. The school is famous for a reason, the education is solid and the name carries a lot of weight. When you tell people you graduated from UNILAG, they look at you with respect because they know you are tough and smart. The teachers really know their subjects, though some are much stricter than others. You have to be ready to read hard on your own because the competition is high. But life on campus is not just about books. The social life is the best in the country. There is always something happening, and the energy is amazing. I loved sitting by the lagoon front to relax after a long day. However, it is not all smooth. Getting a hostel is very hard and the crowds can be a lot to handle. Sometimes the classrooms are too full and the heat makes it hard to focus. You will also spend a lot of time doing paperwork and standing in long lines for registration. In the end, I would recommend UNILAG to anyone who is ready to hustle. It is not a place for lazy people. It teaches you how to be independent and how to survive in a busy city like Lagos. You will face many challenges with the system, but those challenges make you a stronger person. I made great friends here and learned how to navigate life. It is a tough school, but the growth you get is worth every bit of the stress. If you want a school that builds your character and your brain, this is the right place for you.
