About

The jewellery workshop and cutting-edge digital resources and facilities for both 2D and 3D making are supported by a dedicated team of technical and digital staff. 

In this Jewellery and Metal Design (Hons) programme from University of Dundee, you will push the boundaries of jewellery and metal design through innovative use of smart materials and digital processes. You will be able to work with a variety of materials in a playful and experimental way.

How you will be taught

Learning occurs within a dynamic open studio environment where social interaction, peer and group learning and inter-year participation contributes to a stimulating environment. You will learn through a combination of workshops, lectures and self-initiated projects.

How you will be assessed

Project work is reviewed at the conclusion of modules and assessed at the end of each level. Some theoretical designs are assessed by supporting essays and exams.

Careers

The programmes of study prepare graduates for employment in a wide range of careers or to progress into postgraduate study. Placements, live project work and participation in national and international competitions all hone the employability and aspirations of the students.

Recent graduates have been employed in a wide variety of fields of work and postgraduate activity including:

  • SQA Higher/Advanced Higher: BB at Advanced Higher, including art and design or a related subject and an appropriate literate subject, plus BB at Higher in different subjects including one other subject outside art and design
  • GCE A-Level: ABB including art and design or a related subject, an appropriate literate subject and one other subject outside art and design
  • BTEC: A recognised Foundation Course or a relevant BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma with DDM
  • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma: 34 points including 6, 6, 5 at Higher Level to include art and design or a related subject, an appropriate literate subject and one other subject outside art and design
