Overview

This  Environmental Sustainability (Hons) programme from University of Dundee  examines the interaction between people and their surroundings. You'll learn about the use of natural resources and how we can attain more sustainable lifestyles.

This degree can help you:

• tackle pollution
• ensure that new developments enhance rather than detract from their surroundings
• offer communities the chance to have a real say in how people use their natural resources

You'll study the principles and policies needed to help deliver sustainable development and consider both the local and global implications on natural resources.

You will develop specialist analytical and communication skills that will help you work effectively with communities, individuals, and other professionals.

Teaching

• The programme's flexible MA structure means that for the first two years you can combine Environmental Sustainability with other subjects that interest you, such as Urban Planning, Geography, Economics, Politics and careers development.
• Your fieldwork will take place in both physical and social environments. You will have local day trips in Dundee city itself and other nearby locations and landscapes. The courses also take you further afield into the Scottish Highlands, Spain, or Iceland for week-long residential field trips.

Careers

• The Careers Service provides the students with far more than CV advice. From 30-hour micro-placements as part of modules, to gaining academic credit for improving employability skills, you will be prepared for your future career throughout your time at Dundee.

This course is accredited by the professional body the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) which means that all students who attain a lower second class degree or better are eligible for Associate Membership of IEMA.
