History
Gebze Technical University was founded with the decision of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on November 4, 2014, based on the foundations and experience of Gebze Institute of Technology founded in 1992 and its 22 year heritage.
Education
GTU administration, besides basic scientific and strategic researches, has marked it as its duty to encourage inter disciplinary works and qualified and applied researches which in a short duration can turn into social benefit and can yield solutions to the problems of industry sector starting from our near environment; to establish the basis to open a door to universal science; to provide the qualified instructors, along with the students, with the required support; to create facilities to sports and social activities and to promote these facilities.
Research
Gebze Technical University undergraduate and graduatelevel teaching method had been based on the world class, basic and applied scientific, technological research and their presence have been accepted as the main reason for publishing in prestigious international journals and books.

Student Affairs Office is the unit that provides support about academic and administrative concerns to students, student candidates and academics. Undergraduate and graduate students’ procedures are all done by Student Affairs Office.

The institute consists of two campuses, Çay?rova Campus and Muallimköy Campus, which is still under construction. Both of them are easily accessible by the E-5 and TEM highways between Kocaeli and Istanbul, and are close to Sabiha Gökçen Airport.

good education, bad sociability
The school is quite good and sufficient in terms of laboratory facilities, educational opportunities and academician quality. But even though it is a very big and green campus, it is very difficult to find people in the school in spare time. People leave school as soon as their classes are over because there is a huge lack of social space at school. The number of cafes and restaurants is quite insufficient for school students. The lack of a market on campus is also a major�shortcoming.
Computer Science at Gebze Technical University
I have had an incredible experience studying at Gebze Technical University as a computer science major. The university offers a robust academic environment that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application, ensuring that students are well-prepared for the professional world. The faculty are highly knowledgeable and approachable, always willing to guide students through complex concepts and offer valuable industry insights. The campus itself is modern, with state-of-the-art facilities such as advanced computer labs, collaborative workspaces, and an extensive library. These resources have been essential for both my coursework and extracurricular projects. Additionally, the university fosters a strong sense of community through various student organizations, hackathons, and networking events, making it easy to connect with like-minded peers and industry professionals. What I appreciate most about Gebze Technical University is its emphasis on innovation and staying current with technological advancements. Courses are frequently updated to include emerging trends in the tech world, and the university has strong partnerships with leading tech companies, providing internship opportunities that help bridge the gap between academics and real-world experience.
My General Experience
GTU has granted me an excellent education via the stringent curriculum of its Computer Engineering program. The university is known for its strong emphasis on academic excellence, cutting-edge facilities, and an environment that fosters innovation and critical thinking. The courses I have taken include Object-Oriented Programming, Logic Circuits and Design, and Calculus; these have provided a very firm grounding in the theoretical and practical aspects of engineering. Further, laboratory sessions and projects have enhanced problem-solving and technical skills, preparing me for real-world challenges. The international approach, with courses taught in English, has further enriched my learning experience and broadened my global perspective. I have also been involved in a variety of activities at GTU, including voluntary work, and have developed valuable language skills in Russian and English, in addition to my core engineering studies. I am grateful to be part of an institution that values both academic and personal growth, empowering me toward achieving my goals in the field of computer engineering.
