Texas A&M-Corpus Christi traces its beginning to 1947 as the area’s premier institution of higher education. Today, we’re part of The Texas A&M University System, a network of nine universities, seven state agencies and a comprehensive health science center. The following dates are significant milestones marking our amazing transformation.
Our five academic colleges offer bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from highly accomplished faculty, 90 percent of whom hold the highest degree in their fields.
The mission of the Division of Research, Commercialization and Outreach (RCO) is to facilitate and support the research endeavors of TAMUCC constituents. This is accomplished by providing administrative assistance in the preparation of research proposals through budget preparation, assembly, approval and submission of proposal documents as well as in the negotiation and acceptance of research awards. The Office of Sponsored Research Administration (SRA) Office provides the fiscal framework necessary to receive, disburse and administer project funds.
Career Services provides Career Counseling services to currently enrolled students. Alumni may also utilize Career Counseling for up to a year after their graduation with no charge.
Transferring and new students are encouraged to visit with a Career Counselor before seeing an academic advisor if they are unsure of a course of study or have career-related concerns.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers two distinct housing communities to meet the diverse needs of all Islanders. First-year (freshman) students are not required to live on-campus but it is strongly recommended. Students who live on-campus for at least one year are more active in campus events and activities, create a better support network, have a higher GPA, and are more likely to graduate on time than students who live off-campus.
University Health Center is an acute-care clinic that serves students currently enrolled at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. We are located on campus in the Sandpiper Building.
Corpus Christi provides exceptional recreational opportunities such as windsurfing, cycling, fishing and sailing, just to name a few. Corpus Christi is located just a couple hundred miles from other major Texas cities like Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Laredo and Brownsville. So exploring Texas is within reach right from our "Sparkling City by the Bay". And with a local population of just over 325,000, Corpus Christi provides both the convenience of a major city with the atmosphere of a quaint coastal town.
All of our Group Fitness classes welcome participants of all fitness levels, from beginner to advanced. Although our instructors are able to provide modifications and/or variations to accommodate our participants, it is crucial for you as the participant to be aware of your limits and listen to your body’s current abilities and needs. We recommend new participants to ask questions and to notify the instructor of any previous injuries or conditions that may limit or increase the risk of injury.
Students at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi have numerous opportunities to participate in extracurricular events, activities, and organizations. The Office of Student Activities can provide further information. The list includes student organizations relating to the sciences.
Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral degrees.
