The criminal justice system can be an intimidating and overwhelming place, especially for those who do not have the legal knowledge to cope with it. That is why Murphy & McKinney Law Firm introduce their new scholarship program specifically designed for law students who are interested in helping individuals within the criminal justice system.

The Murphy & McKinney Law Firm, P.C. Criminal Justice Scholarship provides recipients with an award to use toward their tuition fees and educational expenses.

Eligibility

To be considered for the scholarship award, students must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Enrolled full-time in an accredited law program within the United States
  • Demonstrated interest in the criminal justice system
  • United States residents or permanent citizens
  • 18 years of age or older

Eligible applicants will need to provide certain materials and information in order to be considered for this award. In the digital application located on this webpage, students will be asked to submit a resume, headshot, proof of enrollment, and an academic transcript.

Students are also asked to submit an essay of approximately 500 words on how they hope to improve the criminal justice system in any one of the following three areas:

Increase rehabilitative services for those under criminal justice supervision

Increase access to legal representation for those who cannot afford it

Improve public education about the criminal justice system

All applications will be reviewed by their scholarship team. They will consider the applicant’s fit to our requirements, the quality and authenticity of their writing, and the essay’s content.

All materials must be submitted by November 17, 2025.
