In 1945, the Educational Foundation - previously known as the Benevolent Association - was formed through private investment. It was incorporated in 1946 as its constitution states, "To establish, maintain, and manage living quarters, dining facilities, recreational centers, and other programs in harmony with normal student life in scholastic and recreational channels at Alfred State."

Residential Life believes that a student’s residence hall experience should be as individually suited to the student's needs and interests as possible. On this basis, Alfred State offers a lifestyle approach to residence hall living. Within the limits of college policy, various lifestyle areas are offered, and students may choose the area which best suits them.
The Hinkle Library has a general access computer lab that is equipped with both black/white and color Cannon Image Runner printers.
Alfred State Technology Services offers many ways for students to stay connected across campus, including the Hinkle Library computer lab, residence hall mini-labs, and curriculum specific labs.
Alfred State’s Health and Wellness team strives to empower students to become participants in their health and well-being. Our team provides educational resources and evidence-based treatment which improves student success. We pride ourselves in maintaining an inclusive environment in which students feel comfortable utilizing our services.
The Alfred State intramural sports program is based on social interaction and fun. Leagues and tournaments are planned and organized in co-ed, men's, and women's divisions.
