All our accommodation is located on campus, offering the best living options in the UK as rated by students (Uni Compare 2025). The modern facilities are at the heart of a vibrant campus community, designed to meet student needs. Affordable fees are a priority, with rents below the national average. As all accommodation is owned and managed on-site by the University, fee increases are kept minimal—just 1.1% in 2023 compared to the sector average of 14.6%. Accommodation is guaranteed for first-year undergraduate students, and support is available for all students applying. The Students’ Union also assists in finding off-campus housing if needed.
The Catalyst at Edge Hill University is a modern, state-of-the-art learning hub, ranked 2nd in the North West for learning resources (NSS 2023). Edge Hill University provides campus-wide Wi-Fi, including in accommodation. Students have access to IT equipment, including computers in study areas and the library. Free laptop borrowing is available, alongside digital resources such as various softwares and an online library. Healthcare at Edge Hill University is easily accessible for students. The general practice where students need to register is located in Ormskirk city centre, just a 15-minute walk from campus or a 5-minute bus ride. Additionally, the Ormskirk & District General Hospital is only a 5-minute walk from the university, offering quick access to medical services.
Edge Hill University is a single-site campus in Ormskirk, North West England, just 30 minutes from Liverpool and 1 hour from Manchester. A small numbers of healthcare courses are delivered at the St. James’ campus in Manchester.
The University’s main campus is conveniently close to Ormskirk town centre, providing easy access to shops, cafes, and other local amenities. On-campus, students enjoy a range of facilities, including two restaurants, a food market, coffee outlets, Subway, a Student Union building, a bar and cinema, two lakes, a post office, cash machines, parking, and laundry services. There are also social zones with pool tables and darts, a giant indoor TV screen, a free campus shuttle bus.
Edge Hill University boasts exceptional sports facilities, including a 25m swimming pool with six lanes, a gymnasium with a sprung floor, and three sports halls with spectator galleries. The athletics track is an eight-lane floodlit competition standard track, alongside five grass pitches for football and rugby. The 3G football/rugby pitch is ideal for high-level matches and training, while smaller 3G courts are available for football. A full-sized hockey pitch and a 2.5km fitness trail add to the outdoor offerings. The 80-station fitness suite, fully equipped gym, sauna, and outdoor workout space further enhance the fitness experience for students.

As an international student, I would definitely recommend Edge Hill University to everyone. One of the things that stuck out to me was how student-centered Edge Hill is, from mental health to careers and even navigating life as a student. They support in anyway you might be having difficulty. I am enjoying my time at Edge Hill, and I am motivated to push myself out of my comfort zone and do things I wouldn't usually do, like attending school events, volunteering, getting into sports, clubs and even being a course representative. Classes are always recorded, so you can go back anytime you need clarification. Not only that, the lecturers are great and always willing to answer questions you may have, no matter how ridiculous you think they are. That is definitely something I struggle with, but I am learning to be comfortable asking questions cause they always get answered sincerely. Classes are interactive, so as someone with social anxiety, it forces me to get to know my course mates and interact with people cause you will be working with these people for group projects, so it is a good thing. Being at Edge Hill has shown me that everything I was scared or anxious about is really not a big deal. It's not that it has rid me of all my anxiety and fears but it's been helpful. It has been a great experience so far and I am loving every minute of it.
I have recently started my second year at Edge Hill, doing Business and Management with Finance and Accounting (undergraduate). I absolutely love it here - the campus is beautiful, there are heaps of opportunities to make good friends, resources available are amazing (for example the library has 4 floors, designated silent study areas as well as social spaces all around campus, several cafes across campus, careers support for finding placements/internships/part-time work). My course is brilliant too - loads of support for studying and a lot of opportunities for extracurricular CV enhancing activities. Lecturers really care about you. Accomodation is also great - rooms are spacious with enough space for everything you might bring with you and extra. Kitchens are decent, cleaners are nice, almost every single room in the uni is ensuite (apart from some in Forest Court). I think the only (almost?) downside is the limited nightlife - Ormskirk is small, and there is only 1 club (called Alpine). Aside from that there are plenty of pubs, so you won't run out of new places to try. Anyway, I hope that this helps anyone who can't make their mind up - after visiting an open day here and at the Uni of Manchester, I chose Edge Hill for all the stated reasons, despite it not being a Russell group uni :)
Great accommodation and food on campus. Great location as it is only 30mins to Liverpool. Fantastic sports facilities. Great student support services especially the inclusion team. Most tutors in the psychology department were fab and really helpful!
