Overview

Students will be trained to identify the social, cultural, economic, environmental, and institutional factors that contribute to diet-related health problems including undernutrition and overnutrition among diverse populations around the world. Students will also learn to design, implement, and evaluate global, state, and local programmes that can improve the nutritional status of the population as a whole and of vulnerable populations.

The main purpose of this new Public Health (Public Health Nutrition Concentration) degree at California State University Fullerton is to train students to apply their food and nutrition knowledge, policy, and research to promote optimal health and prevent disease. This concentration aims to provide opportunities for students to understand the social, cultural, economic, environmental, institutional factors that contribute to the risk of undernutrition and overnutrition among populations.

Students will learn to identify and assess diet-related health problems among diverse populations groups in the US and around the world. Students will also learn to develop, implement, and evaluate interventions focused on promoting health and lowering disease risk by improving nutritional status in populations.

Be a high school graduate or equivalent.

Complete the 15-unit comprehensive “A-G” pattern with a grade of C- or better by high school graduation.

"A-G" requirement may not be completed during the summer term prior to fall enrollment.

Earn a competitive Multi Factor Admission Score (MFAS) as described below. Minimum MFAS will fluctuate each term based on the strength of the applicant pool.
