About

History

Founded in 1839, Normal School opens in Lexington with Cyrus Peirce as principal. Model School opens in a single room.

Education

Student success is central to the mission of the University. Many options are available for student support, including programs to help freshmen transition to the University. The University also has a well-developed honors program for exceptional students.

Career

As a member of the Student Affairs team, our office provides a welcoming and supportive environment to assist our diverse students and alumni with important career needs. We offer assistance in finding a good career fit for your unique values, skills, interests, and personality through career exploration assessments, career counseling, resume and cover letter development, interview preparation, and job/internship search techniques.  The Career Services and Employer Relations team is here to help make connections between students/alumni and employers. In the 2017-18 academic year we hosted over 600 employer partners at over 200 career-related events.

Student services

The Student Services Center (SSC) is the centralized hub dedicated to student transactional services for the following offices:

  • Office of Financial Aid
  • Office of Student Accounts
  • Office of the University Registrar

Housing services

  • Corinne Hall Towers is a co-ed residence complex for 500 students in double occupancy rooms.
  • West Hall -  315 residents. Connected double-double bedroom units with a private bath, connected single-single bedroom units with a private bathroom.
  • Linsley Hall - coed residence hall located at the foot of Adams Road.
  • Larned Hall - coed residence hall, approximately 370 residents in doubles, triples, and quads.
  • North Hall - 410 upper-class students in four-person suites, connected doubles and singles sharing semi-private bathroom facilities.
  • Horace Mann Hall is a co-ed residence hall housing 120 students, single and multiple occupancy rooms.
  • Peirce Hall is an all-female residence hall with double and adjoining single rooms.

Welcome to the Henry Whittemore Library! We have a lot to offer you. The Library staff and I are committed to serving the research needs of the campus community by providing access to resources through collection development and cooperative efforts.

ICT services

Supplemental Internet access is available to students living in the residence halls.

Medical services

The Health Center at Framingham State University provides acute and primary care services by a staff of board certified nurse practitioners. All students, regardless of insurance, can receive care at the Health Center.

Campus life

Located just 20 miles from Boston, Framingham State is both convenient for commuter students and an appealing home for those looking to live on campus, close to all the amenities of the city.Framingham State University has a vibrant and active residential student population.Involvement in the university and residence hall community can greatly enhance the student's university experience and we provide many opportunities for students to become engaged in their community. Our staff also strives to facilitate a community environment which values diversity and fosters student learning and personal development.

Sports facilities

Athletic & Recreation Center: the $12 million facility features two full-length basketball courts, a volleyball court and seating for one thousand spectators at home volleyball and basketball games.

Student clubs

Over fifty registered clubs fill the campus with events and activities throughout the year.  Ranging from academic based clubs to social clubs, there are many opportunities for students to get involved with on campus. 

Each year clubs register through Student Involvement and Leadership Development.  The process registers the clubs through the University, and opens up many privileges to the registered club.  Access to campus space, use of various campus resources, and the ability to apply for funding through Student Government Association are just a few of the benefits of club registration.
