As a Studio Art Major at Framingham State University, you will express your own perspective on the world around you through drawing, painting, sculpting, art history, photography, graphic design, printmaking, or ceramics.

As a Studio Art student, you’ll be given the opportunity to delve into eight areas of concentration, including:
- Art Education
- Ceramics
- Graphic Design
- Illustration
- Painting
- Photography
- Printmaking
- Sculpture
Studio Art students have access to our painting, printmaking, graphic design, drawing, and photography studios in May Hall and the Whittemore Library, as well as the ceramics and sculpture studios in the Maynard Building, which houses the Danforth Museum. The sculpture studio also features a fully functioning wood workshop.
In addition to working as a professional artist, career paths as a Studio Arts major may include Art Critic, Art Dealer, Art Teacher, Cultural Journalist, Curator, Gallerist, Master Printer, Animator, and more.

Studio Art majors will be prepared to pursue career opportunities across a wide range of exciting fields, including:
- Artist
- Designer
Plans and illustrates concepts by designing rough layouts of art.
- Animator
Produces multiple images called frames, when sequenced together create an illusion of movement.
- Illustrator
Combines hand-drawing and painting with digital media to produce visually captivating illustrations.
- Art Teacher
Instruct students how to produce, appreciate, and understand the fine arts.
- Photographer
Produce and preserve images that tell a story or record an event.
