Learning Outcomes

Students learn the historical causes and current process of globalization from an interdisciplinary foundation. They are given the tools to understand global relationships and learn about ways to introduce effective change in issues of global importance.

The Global Studies major at Framingham State University emphasizes a flexible structure, allowing students to share in the design of their major and to respond to emergent opportunities at the University and abroad. Experiential learning is stressed: students must study abroad for one semester and are encouraged to take internships and other service learning opportunities.

Career Opportunities

Global Studies majors will be prepared to pursue career opportunities across a wide range of exciting fields, including:

Political affairs

Gather and analyze data about new developments in foreign politics.

International relations and diplomacy

Work at an embassy to promote peace while representing the best interest of America.

Go on to law school after graduation, and then practice international law, or work for a firm.

Nonprofit & Development

Work with groups such as the Peace Corps, USAID, and Oxfam America on international affairs.

International Event Planning

Plan domestic and international events such as corporate meetings and educational events.
