Mercer University was founded in 1833 in Penfield by Georgia Baptists. The school, under the leadership of Baptist minister and spiritual father Adiel Sherwood, was named for Jesse Mercer, a prominent Baptist leader and the first chair of the Mercer Board of Trustees.

The Office of Housing & Residence Life is responsible for supporting students while they live in the residence halls at Mercer. Our residence halls are staffed by highly talented and trained Resident Assistants who live on each floor and work diligently to build community and support students.
Located in historic downtown Macon, Jack Tarver Library provides services primarily for Mercer University’s Macon campus. As part of a University-wide initiative, the Library supports research at all levels. The Valerie B. Edmonds Student Research Award encourages and recognizes outstanding undergraduate research for projects incorporating the Library’s resources.
The mission of Mercer University Information Technology is to support, develop, and maintain Mercer University's Information Technology environment in support of University endeavors and to provide leadership in the application of information technology and computer support.
Student Health is designed to provide quality health care and treatments for enrolled students who are actively attending classes at the university. Services include, but are not limited to, treatment of acute minor illnesses, injuries, providing medication/prescriptions as indicated, and issuing referrals when needed.
Mercer University offers programs on three major campuses in Macon, Atlanta and Savannah, and at three Regional Academic Centers in suburban Atlanta. In addition, the University operates the Mercer Engineering Research Center in Warner Robins.

This is a hard and wonderful univeristy. I tranfsered from a different univeristy and finished my studies at Mercer. The teachers work very hard to help you understand the material but do not take it easy on you. The classes are very difficult but when you make good grades you deserve them.
