History
The journey from 1931 to 2012 has seen UPM being transformed from what was once a small agricultural school into what is today a leading learning and Research University which is well respected both nationally and internationally.

Research
The concept of research can be clearly defined by the element of re-searching that it encompasses within it. Research, in its most basic sense, is all about exploring a subject deep enough to discover, aspects that have not been examined or known before. Research, therefore, can be described as the central nervous system in which the process of securing knowledge takes place. For a University, where knowledge is the very reason for its existence, research becomes an indispensable tool, only through which true scholarship can be obtained.

The services provided within the University is an integrated units of infrastructures designed to enhance the delivery of services and support programmes that assists the University’s educational mission and significantly enhance the quality of life in campus.
Housing services
Student housing & college residence life at UPM strives to ensure that a living and learning environment is the foundation of its residence culture. Every effort is made to ensure that the students' residence life experience will foster their holistic development as well as being fully supportive of their academic programme. Residence life is a special experience.
Staying in a UPM residence is an extension of the students' university education, where they can benefit from all the facilities and services such as student learning centres, social and sporting activities, life-skills and peer-tutoring programmes.
Library services
UPM meets the needs of its students and the University’s research community with a wide range of library services provided via a main library and five branch libraries, which house a rich and diverse array of research materials and resources.
ICT services
ICT services manage the University's ICT infrastructure and offer a range of facilities and services to assist the UPM community with their ICT-related needs.
The University's intranet provides access to the Internet and other online resources including Library e-resources/e-journals and electronic Student Information System.
Campus life

UPM grows hidden talents
UPM is a good university where they help to develop our hidden potential. For example, our leadership skills and soft skills. Also, the lecturers and staffs are very supportive in order for you to be a better students. And the environment of the university also convinience with a wonderful facilities.
Diverse UPM atmosphere
I would still choose to study at UPM if I were given a chance to choose again. I like the environment here as well as the students here. I made friends with people from various backgrounds and states, really nice exposure.
Hands on learning but language barriers
I like the subject a lot; however, the university itself does not pay attention to the international students, nor does it provide them with a lot of opportunities. Every single extracurricular activity they offer is always in Malay, making the international students feel left out.
