Overview
Primary emphasize is given on professional training in which students are required to undergo specific training provided by governmental agencies or private companies to expose them with real world environmental related experiences and practical analysis.
Initially, the Environmental Science and Technology With Honours program from University Putra Malaysia is specifically tailored to meet the Environmental Quality Act (1974) and other similar laws in which most graduates work as environment control officers at the Department of Environment (DOE) under Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.
Career prospects
Nowadays, many graduates are employed as science officers, consultants and researchers not only at governmental agencies such as MACRES, FRIMS, SIRIM, and ASMA, but also at government-linked corporation (GLC) and big name companies such as Shell, ESSO and Petronas. Besides those who are working, a number of qualified graduates continue their studies in Master and PhD program at local universities and overseas.
