About

History

SMU's journey began in 1997, when the Singapore government first mooted the idea of a third university for the country. The government wanted SMU to be an experiment in diversity. The experiment began with the choice of the Chairman of the new institution, Mr Ho Kwon Ping, a renowned and successful business entrepreneur.

Education

The Singapore Management University places a high priority on developing and maintaining a consistent corporate image to reinforce its status and position, both in the local and wider communities.

To effectively protect the university's brand, we have developed guidelines to ensure consistent implementation of SMU's visual identity.

Research

From Singapore, the strategic hub of Asia, SMU applies its knowledge and global perspective in an Asian context to bridge concepts and provide critical insights. SMU research aims to create significant impact by addressing these five societal challenges.

International mobility: a must
Anonymous rated 4 out of 5 stars

It's been quite hard because of the country (Singapore) but I've liked it a lot: the University (awesome educational system and facilities, honestly), the so welcoming and friendly people (in spite of what I thought before going) and the beautiful countries I've been able to travel to from there (Malasya, Indonesia, Vietnam...). I wouldn't change a thing.

I really enjoy my time at SMU because the classes are very flexible, and work-life balance is very important to me. I also enjoy the small class sizes and there is a wonderful teacher to student ratio.
