Overview
Outcome
Given the rapidly changing world, it is no longer sufficient for lawyers to only know the law. Tomorrow’s lawyers must be intellectually agile, capable of responding to situations we have never seen before. At the SMU School of Law, we equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and values that will prepare them for the future of legal practice.
The multi- and interdisciplinary curriculum of the Laws programme at Singapore Management University goes beyond equipping you with foundational knowledge of the law. We encourage you to appreciate how law operates within the broader social, economic, institutional and political environment, how it is situated within various philosophical frameworks and traditions, and how it might respond to new situations across international borders and into the future. You may further your interdisciplinary education by pursuing a double degree or a second major.
Learning at the School of Law extends beyond the classroom. Our students learn about how the law works in real life through internships (both physical and virtual) with law firms, legal departments, and government bodies. Beyond Singapore, students gain global exposure through the international exchange programme, overseas internships, Law Study Missions, and inter-university competitions. Through campus legal clinics run by our Pro Bono Centre, our students learn to see law as not just a practice but a calling while contributing towards the ideal of equal access to justice in society.Programme Structure
