The Chair of Child Health, deemed to be the origin of Hacettepe Faculty of Medicine, was founded as part of the Faculty of Medicine on February 2, 1954.
The foundation stone of the university was laid in 1957 with the Child Health Institute and Hospital within Hacettepe, which began its training, education and research activities and public services in 1958.
Hacettepe University continues its activities with 15 Faculties, 15 Graduate Schools and Institutes , 2 Applied Schools, 1 Conservatory, 4 Vocational Schools, and 98 Research and Application Centers within the scope of the Law No: 2809 for the Organization of Higher Education Institutions, enacted in 1982.

There are various facilities for accommodation within both campuses. Standard dormitories at Beytepe Campus can host 3.472 students. The costs of the dormitories range between 205-310 Turkish Liras, that is 115-170 US Dollars. In addition, there are two guest houses at Sıhhiye Campus (capacity: 292 rooms), and student houses (capacity: 1880 students) and two private dormitories (capacity: 1340 students) at Beytepe Campus. Along with new investments, the accommodation capacity will double in the very near future. There are more than 12 private dormitories (capacity: 56-100) in the neighborhood of the university.
There are 15 group study and projection rooms with different seating capacities and equipment in Beytepe Library. Wireless internet is available in the rooms in the basement. Beytepe Library has 59 individual study carrels. Users can benefit from all the carrels on the first floor without making an appointment.
In Sihhiye, Beytepe and Besevler Campuses, there are health centers where physicians, dentists, physiotherapists, psychological counselors, nurses, social service experts, and laboratory and radiology technicians provide medical services including emergency services 24 hours a day. In 2012, student psychological counseling service was started to be offered to the students at Hacettepe University.
Hacettepe University has two main campuses in Ankara: Sıhhıye Campus is located in the old town section and hosts the Medical Center; Beytepe Campus is located in the newer section of the city, off Eskisehir Road. The Sıhhiye Campus includes the Faculties of Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy as well as the Schools of Health Administration, Health Services, Health Technology, Home Economics, Nursing, Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation, and the Hacettepe Vocational School. Three University Hospitals are also located on this campus. The campus hosts a Cultural Center, an auditorium, conference halls, an art gallery, a medical library, bank, post office, and accommodation facilities.
Hacettepe University has high quality facilities at both Sıhhiye and Beytepe Campuses. Outdoor sports facilities are located at Beytepe Campus. The university has many outdoor facilities such as basketball and volleyball courts, soccer and American football fields, tennis courts, track and field facilities, and a swimming pool.University sports clubs and teams regularly take part in national and international inter-university competitions. Each year, a sports festival is organized by the university, where faculties and schools compete against each other.
Student Clubs and Societies were established in cooperation and coordination of the students of Hacettepe University in order to enable them to organize and participate in courses, study groups and choirs in the fields of arts, photography, crafts, folk dances, music and etc. according to their skills and interests, and to conduct activities such as concerts, shows, exhibitions and competitions within and outside the university. The Clubs and Societies are organized under the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports. Currently, there are 142 student clubs and organizations within our university.
Quality difference between educators are biggest problem of this course you'll have amazing proffessors and terrible ones at the same time
I can say that my study was one of the hardest in this university. I was always busy because of assignments and exams. I learned a lot.
I am not very pleased with my experience at this university because we are only being taught by facts. Although it gives me a really good knowledge about literature,this method of teaching in a way has blinded my creativity and my views upon certain texts and literature movements. In other words I have began to find myself looking through a lens of analysis ( facts)etc....
