Overview

The English Language Education undergraduate program, in which the teaching is carried out in English, covers the fields of language, linguistics, culture, literature and mainly language teaching.

Students are provided with knowledge and skills on subjects such as designing syllabuses and training English teachers, taking into account student needs and expectations.

The Hacettepe University aims to raise highly qualified individuals for the future of the country by making use of the knowledge of science, technology and art in the light of universal values, and to present their production in the fields of research, education and service for the benefit of the society.

Graduates of the Division of English Language Teaching can work as English instructors at state and foundation universities apart from public schools of Ministry of Education and private schools (fee-paying schools, learning centers, kindergartens). Moreover, they can serve as translators, assistant experts and experts at various institutions (translation agencies, ministries, foreign trade).
In order to transform their theoretical knowledge about the teaching profession into a skill and to improve their knowledge and skills practically, students attend practical classes at schools and do internships in the last period of their education.

General requirements

A certified copy of Secondary Education Certificate/High School Diploma and its translation by a sworn translator in case it is in a language other than English or Turkish.

Exam Scores: SAT or ACT scores must be dated in 2018 or 2019. Applicants can submit the PDF print or photocopy of their scores for application.

Applicants who hold dual citizenship (one of which is TR), must submit a certificate of identity register.

Choice of interview and Skype name: a letter written as a Word document by the applicant, indicating his/her choice of interview (face-to-face or online), and their Skype names.
Candidates who enter student placement test of AYT and English test are accepted in the program and all students are required to take proficiency exam.
