Overview

The English Linguistics program at Hacettepe University was structured as a department in 1994, and with the scientific perspective it brought to language studies and the undergraduate and graduate students it trained, it made significant contributions to the recognition of linguistics as a social science field in Turkey.

Key Features

An important distinguishing feature of the Department of English Linguistics is that it bridges the micro fields of linguistics such as phonology, morphology, syntax, and semantics with other disciplines like psychology, sociology and philosophy to attain a macro perspective in studying language, and thus, provide a multi-faceted language education for the students.
The medium of instruction in the department is 100% English.

General requirements

A certified copy of Secondary Education Certificate/High School Diploma and its translation by a sworn translator in case it is in a language other than English or Turkish.

Exam Scores: SAT or ACT scores must be dated in 2018 or 2019. Applicants can submit the PDF print or photocopy of their scores for application.

Applicants who hold dual citizenship (one of which is TR), must submit a certificate of identity register.

Choice of interview and Skype name: a letter written as a Word document by the applicant, indicating his/her choice of interview (face-to-face or online), and their Skype names.
The program accepts students with LANGUAGE-1 type grade gained in ÖSYS exam.
