The oldest university in Montreal, McGill was founded in 1821 from a generous bequest by James McGill, a prominent Scottish merchant. He carved a new life for himself in the Canadian wild while barely out of his teens. He flourished as a fur trader, despite tough and dangerous conditions.
In addition to a stellar faculty, McGill is known for attracting the brightest students from across Canada, the United States, and around the world. McGill students have the highest average entering grades in Canada, and the commitment to fostering the very best has helped the students win more national and international awards on average than their peers at any other Canadian university. The prestigious Rhodes Scholarship has gone to a nation-leading 144 McGill students.
Today's researchers at McGill work in a range of exciting new domains, including genomics and proteomics, nanotechnologies, climate research, intelligent systems, new materials, food technology, statistics applied to the social sciences (including health care), and even the technology of music and the Internet. McGill encourages opportunities in these emerging fields, while nevertheless constantly working to support and strengthen research in its founding disciplines.
McGill has a history of shaping leaders. Nobel Prize winners, Grammy Award winners, Olympic gold medalists and world-renowned researchers—our alumni span the globe and leave McGill's mark in virtually every field, from neuroscience to the arts, from finance to physics and technology.
For undergraduate students, the McGill Commitment will mean meaningful exposure to research, whether in the laboratory or in the field, and learning opportunities that extend beyond the classroom and the gates of the University. For graduate students, the Commitment will ensure excellence in supervision, and provide opportunities for developing career-enhancing professional skills.

My overall experience was great, I got an opportunity to learn a lot about new techniques and terminologies. Furthermore, the teacher's were very good also they had very friendly and helpful nature which was the plus point. In terms of improvement, I think that laboratories could be much better. Moreover, I don't think that any other improvements are essential.
