About this Program

Its approach to teaching is entrenched in the Strengths-Based model, empowering students to develop the strengths that nurses, patients and families are encouraged to recognize and foster in themselves and others to promote health and facilitate healing.

The Ingram School of Nursing at McGill University offers two streams of study at the undergraduate level - one leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (for graduates with college-level preparation in the health care sciences) and the other to a Bachelor of Nursing (for students with a Quebec diploma in nursing).

Note: students completing the Diplôme d'études collégiales (DEC) 180.A0 program should refer to Bachelor of Nursing (Integrated) (BNI) program page.

Student involvement is a cornerstone of the program. In addition to classroom lectures, students study in small learning groups of six to eight people, working closely with professors to examine, in critical and creative ways, the many facets of nursing in today’s society. Furthermore, starting with the very first nursing course, students gain hands-on experience and knowledge in a McGill teaching hospital or affiliated centre, where they learn to help people manage health and illness situations.
