Overview
Criminology and Criminal Justice is offered by Niagara University. The criminal justice program is one of the largest departments housed on campus, and continues to be a popular program, drawing students from Western New York, Southern Ontario, across the U.S., and abroad.
Key Facts
NU’s program educates and guides students in all areas of the fields of criminology and criminal justice, such as victim services, social services, research, and law, while helping students develop a network of connections through internship opportunities, study abroad programs, and faculty-student research. Upon completion of the program, students will be ready for careers within or outside of criminology and criminal justice, or may go on to law school or graduate school. The department has a full-time professional-in-residence on staff, with more than 20 years of experience, to help place students in meaningful internships. Over the past several years, students have been placed in federal, state, and local criminal justice agencies. Some students have also taken advantage of semester-long internships in Washington, D.C., or with the New York state government in Albany. Students also have great study abroad opportunities – over the last five years alone, close to a hundred students have traveled abroad on two-week excursions to countries including Belgium, Ireland, England, Wales, Scotland, Germany, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands.
