UMHEF scholarships help make it financially possible for qualifying students to obtain higher education, especially those attending United Methodist-related institutions. In rare cases, awards are also given to students attending other schools.

Several endowed funds support students of the following United Methodist-related Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs).

Awards range in value between $500-$5,000.

Eligibility

Applicants for these awards must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Must be attending select HBCUs:

  • Bennett College
  • Bethune-Cookman University
  • Claflin University
  • Clark Atlanta University
  • Dillard University
  • Gammon Theological Seminary
  • Huston-Tillotson University
  • Paine College
  • Philander Smith University
  • Rust College
  • Wiley University
  • Attending or planning to attend an HBCU listed above
  • Be a member of one of these churches for at least one year prior to applying: The United Methodist Church, African Methodist Episcopal Church, AME Zion Church, Christian Methodist Episcopal Church
  • Be in good standing with the college/university
  • GPA of at least 2.5
