Overview
You’ll examine the relationship between personal and social change, structured modes of conflict resolution and creative nonviolent activism and spiritual foundations for peaceable living.
Program Learning Outcomes
Experiential learning is a natural component of this interdisciplinary program. Internships involve practical experience that focuses on social change, nonviolent intervention, conflict resolution or transformation and/or building a culture of peace.
Guilford College’s Conflict Resolution Center (CRRC) helps members of Guilford’s community resolve conflicts. Peace and Conflict Studies students may work in the CRRC, present programs on campus and provide mediation for interpersonal conflict.
Graduates are currently or have attended prestigious programs at University of Bradford, University of Peace in Costa Rica, University of Florida, UNC Chapel Hill School of Law and Harvard. And they have built rewarding careers with VISTA, American Friends Service Committee, Peace Brigades International and at domestic violence counseling centers and with mediation and conflict intervention programs.
