, MA,
In a nutshell, finance is the study of the purchase and sale of assets by individuals and institutions, the methods they use to fund such transactions, and the markets in which these deals occur.

Working in an environment that can fluctuate wildly by the minute, financial professionals need to know how to analyze large amounts of data, communicate effectively, and make decisions quickly.

Equipping you with rock-solid analytical skills is a priority in our Finance major. We complement that knowledge by teaching you how the role of finance operates in a range of organizations, and providing a global perspective of the institutions and markets in which finance operates. Other topics you’ll cover include the financial environment of business, the corporate decision-making process, and the key principles underlying the investment and valuation process.

You can focus your Finance degree studies through one of three concentrations:

  • Capital Markets
  • Corporate Finance
  • Financial Planning
Strong financial management is a must for organizations in every sector.

Typically, you’ll find our Finance major graduates working in commercial banking, corporate finance, financial planning, insurance and money management. Many students also choose to pursue advanced graduate-level credentials in business administration, finance and law.
