Overview
Coursework required for the Apparel and Textiles, Financial Literacy, Hospitality and Merchandising Option includes the option requirements, semester hours for the selected concentration and the completion of the related minor.
Students must select from one of four concentrations: Apparel and Textiles Design, Financial Literacy, Hospitality Management, and Merchandising.
Concentrations
- Apparel and Textile Design: this Concentration includes the print and textile design minor and prepares students for careers in product design, apparel development and textile industries.
- Financial Literacy: this Concentration includes a Business Administration minor and prepares students for careers in consumer services, government agencies and financial areas.
- Hospitality Management: courses include Food Sanitation, Lodging Operations, Dining Room Management, and Destination Management; possible careers include hotel management, resort and club operations, food and beverage management, and conference planning.
- Merchandising: with possible careers are in retail management, textile and apparel product development, department buying, and visual merchandising the Merchandising option includes courses in Fashion Buying, Fashion Distribution Systems, Interior Design, Housing, History of Costume, and Textiles.

- Application for Admission
- Official records (transcripts or mark sheets) beginning with secondary school. Transcripts must bear the seal and signature of the appropriate school official, and be accompanied by an official English translation if necessary. A minimum grade point average of a 2.0 on a 4.0 scale is required. All transcripts become property of this University. Transfer students are strongly encouraged to submit course descriptions or syllabi as this information will greatly expedite the transfer process.
- English Language Proficiency Requirement: Official TOEFL, IELTS, STEP EIKEN, Michigan English Language Assessment Battery (MELAB), or iTEP Academic Plus Examination mailed directly from the respective testing service. The school code for Eastern Illinois University is 1199. Test results are valid for two years only. Required scores are listed here. Please note, conditional admission is possible for students who have not met the English requirement.
