Key facts

The Civil Engineering program at University of Miami provides a strong background in the fundamentals of mathematics, science, engineering, humanities, social sciences and civil engineering. Students are exposed to theory and practice, as well as hands-on laboratory work. The BSCE program is accredited by the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET).

The student learning objectives of the Civil Engineering Program are:

An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.

An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.

An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
