Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies at University of Miami offers undergraduate students knowledge and skills that are critical to succeed in today's globalized world. Through its interdisciplinary faculty, the undergraduate program advances students' understanding of governance, development, migration, security, economics, and the socio-political dynamics of regions such as Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America.
The undergraduate program exposes students to a wide of range of knowledge and skills. The curriculum is designed to provide students with an understanding of the international system’s past, present and future. The aim is for students to develop the critical-analytical skills necessary for a successful career in international business, diplomacy, policy, and development. Proficiency in a foreign language is required of all majors and study abroad opportunities are readily available to help students gain first-hand experience in cultures and institutions outside the United States.
Mission
The INS Program promotes, through its interdisciplinary reach, the exploration of various theoretical and analytical approaches and methodological techniques intended to offer students a broad program of study focused on the interaction between the local and the global, from the historical to the contemporary, while tracking possible alternative future scenarios and developments in the international system.

General requirements
- Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.
- If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)
- We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.
- The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
