Overview

Our undergraduate Painting program is based on our rigorous sequence of classes and is designed to train each painting student to both skillfully render representational images and to create successful abstractions in oil and acrylic paint and then to use these fundamental skills to make original art. By going to the coures descriptions in the painting sequence you will see how we implement this progression.

Many of our other full-time and adjunct professors are accomplished, exhibiting painters and all of them are available to critique your work. This is a structured but nurturing environment for young artists; hard work and new ideas are welcome, and students who exhibit these qualities are assured of specialized individual attention according to their needs.

Complete and submit the Common Application. Upon submitting, you will be asked to pay a $70 nonrefundable application fee.

If you have attended a secondary school outside of the United States, you must submit your official secondary school documents (transcripts, mark sheets, certificates, examination results, etc.)

We require you to submit two letters of recommendation: one from a high school guidance counselor and one from a teacher.

The University of Miami is need-aware for first-year international undergraduate applicants. This means that, for a portion of international applicants, the Admission Committee will consider that student’s ability to pay tuition without the need for financial aid.
