Description
Established in March 2007 by John L. Hunter, B.Sc.Established in 1951 by Lincoln Might and awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering first year of any direct entry undergraduate Bachelor of Science in the Faculty of Arts and Science or Bachelor of Applied Science degree program in Smith Engineering. 1969, in memory of his father, Lawrence M. Hunter, B.Sc. 1936 and awarded to a student entering the third or fourth year of studies in Smith Engineering, who has made outstanding humanitarian contributions as evidenced through volunteer activities both within and outside of the university environment while maintaining satisfactory academic achievement.

Eligibility
- Awarded on the basis of academic excellence to students entering first year of any direct-entry undergraduate Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Applied Science in Engineering degree program.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have not received other University awards of higher value.
- This award may be received only once by an individual.

Students in the second or third year of studies submit their application letter, accompanied by a resume and two letters of reference, one of which must be from an individual who can attest to the student's humanitarian efforts to Smith Engineering by March 15.
