Founded in 1914 in the city of Stoke-on-Trent, and famous for its forward-thinking approach, we have become a figurehead for vocational and academic teaching, innovation and employability.

Education

Digitally led and focused on graduate employability, we provide high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education across a wide range of subject areas including computing, design, law, and business, engineering and healthcare.
What’s more, if our current portfolio isn’t already diverse enough, new and industry-relevant courses are being launched every year, such as our pioneering esports undergraduate course - the first of its kind in the UK, or our brand new range of pathway courses, where you have the choice to tailor your own degree while studying.

Graduate employability is at the forefront of our objectives. As a result, all courses provide the opportunity for relevant work-placement.

Student services

At Staffordshire university, all the student support services are in one place: the Student Hub.
The Student Hub is a place where students can connect, relax and engage. There is plenty of space to meet up with friends, and course mates. The Student Hub is also home to our Information, Support and Wellbeing services.
At the Student Hub, you'll be able to access the Student Information Team, Student and Wellbeing Support and the Careers and Personal Development Team, and more.. The teams provide information and support such as thesis submission, visa checks, ID cards, CVs, careers advice and much more. Our teams can also offer counselling, wellbeing support and expert academic guidance.

Housing services

We have over 1200 rooms at our Stoke-on-Trent campus, and 50 near our Stafford Centre of Excellence. Despite our city locations, much of the accommodation opens out onto gardens, fields, or intimate courtyards. Outside spaces often have built-in furniture, fairy lights, bean bags, pizza ovens, fire pits and electrical points for music, making Staffordshire University’s campus’ the perfect all year-round space to enjoy.

We also offer students guaranteed accommodation for their first year of study on the Stoke-on-Trent campus (subject to terms and conditions), so you can be safe in the knowledge that you will be in the heart of campus for the start of your university experience.

Library services

At Staffordshire University, we have a number of libraries that are there for student-use. Our main library on the Stoke-on-Trent campus is the Thompson Library, it houses materials and learning resources for all subject areas but mainly the library resources for Arts, Media and Design subject areas.

ICT services

Staffordshire university is known as the digital university. We provide all students with cloud services, as well as housing excellent IT facilities throughout our campuses for you to use. Wifi is also available across campuses, meaning wherever you are you can access resource and material to help with your studies.

Medical services

As well as having a local GP, at Staffordshire university we have specialist mental health counselling teams to support you through your university experience. Our Student Hub provides these services and are available for support online and in person throughout the academic year.

Campus life

The Stoke-on-Trent campus is constantly improving, with over £100m invested in facilities and new buildings in recent years. Plus, it’s in the heart of the UK, with the major cities of Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester just a short train ride away. That’s not all; if you’re a healthcare student, you can benefit from dedicated Centres of Excellence in both Shrewsbury and Stafford, or if you’re into big city living, you can study the latest technology courses at our Staffordshire University London Digital Institute.
Facilities are up-to-date and industry relevant, and you’ll get the chance to practice in professional environments.

Sports facilities

Named after Stoke City player and football legend, Sir Stanley Matthews CBE, our Sports Centre is located on our Leek Road campus.

Open to students, staff and the local community, the centre is well equipped and offers a wide range of activities.

In addition to a fully packed and modern on-campus Gym, we also have the following available for use:

Full size 3G Pitch available for 7-a-side or 11-a-side bookings
5-a-side 3G Pitch available for small sided games
Sports Hall offering Badminton, Football, Netball, Basketball etc.

Student clubs

Our Students’ Union is our student-led, student-staffed, and student-focused hub. With elected representatives that are driven by your interests and needs socially, academically and financially. They are key to your university experience.
What’s more, if you have a specialist interest or you’re just curious to try something new and meet like-minded people – you’re sure to find a club or society to join. There are sports clubs, religious and cultural societies to meet the needs of all students as well as special interest societies. From Pagan to Pokémon, Vegan and Vegetarian to Harry Potter, you’re sure to find an interest close to your heart.
