Founded in 1849, Oregon's Pacific University traces its roots to a log cabin meeting house in Forest Grove where the Rev. Harvey Clark, a Congregationalist minister, and Tabitha Brown, a former teacher from Massachusetts, cared for and educated orphans of the Oregon Trail.

Today, Pacific’s focus on teaching and learning in a close nurturing environment leads to genuine transformation in students’ lives. Distinguished by its inquiry- based curricula and interdisciplinary collaboration, Pacific offers students exceptional opportunities for experiential learning, leadership and civic engagement.

The division of Student Affairs is committed to the development of each and every student of Pacific University. Our professional staff inspires students to become immersed in the college life experience by providing a nurturing environment that promotes personal, professional, and academic development in our students.

Housing services

Beyond being a comfortable place to live, Pacific's Residence Halls are at the heart of students' academic and social lives. You will study, meet friends and grow as a person, all while being supported by professional and paraprofessional live-in staff members.

While individual hall rooms will vary in size and shape, each is furnished with a single bed, dresser, mirror, desk with overhead light, chair, bulletin board, mini-blinds, computer network connection, smoke detector, closet and storage space. Additionally, each hall contains recreational areas for watching TV, laundry facilities, kitchen facilities and vending machines.

Library services

The Pacific University Libraries is a place of inspiration that fosters inquiry, collaborative learning, and discovery through our dynamic services, our determined advocacy for access to knowledge, and our contributions to the creation of new knowledge.

Medical services

By joining Pacific University, you’re instantly part of the Boxer community that fosters a college experience well beyond academics. Student Life professionals motivate students to learn, lead, and engage in the division’s services. These services include counseling, on-campus housing, residential life, healthcare, recreation, physical education, and learning support services.

Student Life

Campus life

  • The Pacific University Eugene Campus opened in 1992 offering undergraduate and graduate programs in the College of Education. In 2014, the College of Arts & Sciences added a master of social work (MSW) program to the site.
  • A plaque on the Forest Grove Campus still marks the log cabin of the original home of the Tualatin Academy, a school for orphans and precursor to Pacific University. Old College Hall, the oldest academic building still in use west of the Mississippi, also sits on the corner of campus, serving as the university museum.
  • Founded as the home of Pacific University's College of Health Professions, the campus also offers graduate programs in the College of Business.

Sports facilities

The Bill & Cathy Stoller Center is home to gyms, handball courts, the fieldhouse, a fitness center and more. The Lincoln Park Athletic Complex also includes Hanson Stadium (football/soccer/lacrosse/track), Chuck Bafaro Stadium (baseball), Sherman/Larkins Stadium (softball), and Holce Tennis Courts. The complex is shared by the university and the city of Forest Grove and also offers a walking trail, picnic facilities and playgrounds. The Forest Grove Aquatic Center is adjacent to campus.

Student clubs

Students get involved on campus, taking advantage of the more than 60 clubs and organizations that we have to offer. Students should also consider getting involved in student government, or one of the various centers on campus. Athletics is also an important part of the college experience for many of our students, whether that be at the varsity, junior varsity, club, or intramural level. In addition, graduate and professional students will find a variety of clubs, volunteer experiences, and professional societies within their colleges and programs.

Pacific University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
