About

History

Founded in 1892 as the Ithaca Conservatory of Music, Ithaca College was located in downtown Ithaca until the 1960s, when the present campus was built on South Hill overlooking Cayuga Lake.

Education

Ithaca College offers more than 90 majors and 70 minors through its five schools. Following is a breakdown of undergraduate enrollment by school:

  • School of Business: 550
  • Roy H. Park School of Communications: 1,400
  • School of Health Sciences and Human Performance: 950
  • School of Humanities and Sciences: 1,650
  • School of Music: 400

Research

The psychology department faculty members have a diverse set of research interests. Faculty expertise includes training in clinical, counseling, developmental, experimental, cognitive, neuroscience, educational, industrial/organizational, statistics, and social psychology. All psychology majors receive close contact with faculty members through our unique research team program.

Career Services provides career related education, experiential learning, professional development, and post-graduate opportunities for the benefit of students and alumni.

Student services

The Office of Counseling and Wellness offers professional relationships and support services that empower diverse individuals and groups to achieve mental health, wellness and educational goals.

Housing services

Documentation and information related to your disability to kept confidential within our office.  We only share limited information needed to ensure the effective provision of accommodations.

Library services

There are several ways to find books for study and recreation while at home.

  • Search our Ebook Central collection.
  • The Digital Public Library of America offers thousands of free ebooks.
  • Your local public library may have ebooks available through apps such as Libby. 
  • If you’re a New York State resident, you can check out ebooks from the New York Public Library

ICT services

Centrally located in Job Hall, the Information Technology Service Desk provides technology support for students, faculty and staff for a variety of technology areas.  Our dedicated team of full time professionals and knowledgeable student employees are committed to ensuring our clients have an exceptional technology experience.  

Medical services

The Ithaca College Center for Counseling, Health & Wellness (CHW) values collaborative relationships with members of our campus community. Our Outreach and Consultation Services aim to help members of the IC community address mental health, wellness and physical health concerns in a student-centered and holistic way.

The Emerson Suites serve as one of the most adaptable and popular events venues on campus, hosting year-round activities such as student performances, trade shows (from Educational Technology Day to job and internship fairs), late-night social events, and conferences.

Student clubs

Student Affairs and Campus Life fosters the comprehensive growth of students, their academic success, and community development by providing learning opportunities and experiences as well as essential services for all members of the College community. Privately supported and nondenominational, Ithaca College is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

The college environment is amazing. I would have really loved a little more guidance as an international student and understanding how the systems work. Academics were great and up to par however there was a huge disparity between teaching styles of professors.
