Founded in 1867 as the Centenary Biblical Institute by the Baltimore Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, the institution's original mission was to train young men in ministry. Morgan remained a private institution until 1939. The state of Maryland purchased the school in response to a state study that determined that Maryland needed to provide more opportunities for its black citizens.
Morgan State is one of the few historically black institutions nationally to offer a comprehensive range of academic programs, in business, engineering, education, architecture, social work, and hospitality management, in addition to those in the arts and sciences and programs leading to the doctorate.

I loved the spirit of the campus and seeing other young students striving to gain the knowledge that would push them closer to their desired careers. I would recommend more practical assignments and less note taking because I believe it will improve student cooperation. I would summarize my undergrad experience as step one of the career discovery journey
I enjoyed my HBCU experience at Morgan State. I learned a lot about myself and my ancestors. Although some courses were repetitive from High School, I learned history that was not taught to me. Learning about my history, empowered me. I wish Morgan would invest more into their Fashion program.
