Founded in 1963 as a land-grant university, the University of Missouri–St. Louis is today the largest public research university in eastern Missouri with more than 16,000 students. UMSL’s Thomas Jefferson Library provides resources that support the student academic experience. The library includes the collections of the St. Louis Mercantile Library – the oldest library west of the Mississippi River – founded in 1864, as well as access to numerous digital databases and a robust Interlibrary Loan program.
Our information and communications technology infrastructure is built for student success. Of course we offer WiFi throughout our campus and access to computer labs with shared hardware. But, we go beyond that. Every student has access to free software downloads from statistical software to basic operating systems. And, our MyGateway student portal brings all applications together.
The Health, Counseling and Disability Access Services unit provides each student with quality health care, counseling services and provides accommodations to students who require additional access services.
The on-campus Patient Care Center houses the University Eye Center and the SSM Health Medical Group that offers primary care, obstetrics and gynecology services.
Located just outside the main City of St. Louis, UMSL provides a great environment for students to learn, make friends and explore new interests.
