Program Overview

Coursework provides a sound base of information technology fundamentals and advanced work in internet working and client-server information systems. Under the Microsoft Academic Alliance and the Red Hat Academy, all students gain in-depth experience in configuring and maintaining networked operating systems and server applications. Under the Cisco Networking Academy, students gain an in-depth understanding of internetwork technology and experience hands-on practice with Cisco routers and switches.

Students are required to have an internship and to complete a two-semester professional capstone project, both areas that will only help you be competitive with most IT positions. Furthermore, students have the potential to earn up to seven professional certifications that will give an additional boost in the job market.

Students will gain a solid management background while earning this degree. The information and cybersecurity technology program provides a wide range of experiences in, and apart from, the technology areas that prepare you to work in the field. This foundation will provide the needed skills to advance in a technology-based career.

Career Path

• Computer and Information Systems Managers - Plan, direct, or coordinate activities in such fields as electronic data processing, information systems, systems analysis, and computer programming.
• Database Architects - Design strategies for enterprise databases, data warehouse systems, and multidimensional networks. Set standards for database operations, programming, query processes, and security. Model, design, and construct large relational databases or data warehouses. Create and optimize data models for warehouse infrastructure and workflow. Integrate new systems with existing warehouse structure and refine system performance and functionality.
• Data Warehousing Specialists - Design, model, or implement corporate data warehousing activities. Program and configure warehouses of database information and provide support to warehouse users.
• Telecommunications Engineering Specialists - Design or configure wired, wireless, and satellite communications systems for voice, video, and data services. Supervise installation, service, and maintenance.
• Computer and Information Research Scientists - Conduct research into fundamental computer and information science as theorists, designers, or inventors. Develop solutions to problems in the field of computer hardware and software.
• Database Administrators - Administer, test, and implement computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems. Coordinate changes to computer databases.
