About this program
This degree program will prepare students for entry positions in the plant and agricultural biotechnology industries and various government agencies as laboratory technicians, quality control technicians, assay analysts and biochemical technicians. The program will combine laboratory skills, academic coursework with biotechnology industrial internship experience to ensure students are adequately prepared for a growing biotechnology workforce; as well as create a pipeline for graduate studies in Biotechnology. The Plant Biotechnology program is offered by Alabama A&M University.

General requirements
- Official letter of recommendation from principal, counselor or college advisor.
- AAMU requires a minimum GPA of 2.0 and currently waives test requirements (acceptance only). Test scores are required for scholarship eligibility.
- Official results of the Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) paper based score = 500 or above; Computer based = 178 or above; and Internet based = 61 or above, or official results of the International English Testing System (IELTS) of a 5.5 or above unless English is spoken as a native language. If applicant has successfully completed one year's college coursework in an English-speaking country, the TOEFL or IELTS requirement may be waived.
