Overview

University of the Incarnate Word students can select from two Health Sciences tracks.

The first is the administrative track. This track is designed to prepare students in specific administrative and certified allied healthcare careers.

The second is the general track. The general track is specifically designed for the working allied healthcare provider who may have earned a recognizable certification and/or completed military training.

Why Earn a Health Sciences Degree?

Prepare for 4 nationally accredited healthcare certifications

This degree provides the option to sit for the following nationally accredited certifications:

Cardiac Rhythm Analysis Technician
Certified Billing and Coding Specialist
Certified Electronic Health Record Specialist
Certified Medical Administrative Assistant

Completion of the core classes will satisfy the minimum certification examination requirements. Certified testing centers not affiliated with UIW will offer the exam and award the certification upon successful completion.

Receive credit for prior training experience

Students who have 18 or more credits in the allied health field or appropriate military training can transfer their credits into this degree program to fulfill the general studies concentration.
