Embracing the world of digital communication, where everyone is both a consumer and producer of content, the Digital Communication and Multimedia Journalism program on University of South Florida’s St. Petersburg campus prepares students to excel in the digital sphere. Coursework encompasses journalistic writing, visual storytelling, technology and community engagement, alongside foundational classes in theory, law, and ethics. Students learn a range of in-demand skills including photography, reporting, video production, social media strategy, podcast production, broadcasting, visual design, data storytelling, on-camera interviewing, and online research.

While enrolled in the Digital Communication and Multimedia Journalism program, students at University of South Florida St Petersburg can contribute to collegiate news organizations such as the campus student newspaper, The Crow’s Nest, the Online News Association, and Spoon University. Enterprising students can practice civic engagement on campus and in the community through the Neighborhood News Bureau, a newsroom covering historic African American neighborhoods of St. Petersburg.

A degree in Digital Communication and Multimedia Journalism prepares students to become savvy media consumers and creators.
