The Department of Electrical and Commputer Engineering provides for its students a strong foundation in engineering science, mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering design. One of the main objectives is to have students reach competence through choices of technical electives and logical sequences of courses in the following thrust areas:

Energy Systems, including: Power Systems, Control Systems, Power Electronics.
Microelectronic Systems, including: Electronic Materials, Opto-electronics, Integrated Circuits.
Communication Systems, including: Telecommunications, Digital Signal Processing, Wireless Systems and Eletromagnetics.

Computing Systems, including: Computer Aided Design, Computer Hardware, VLSI Design, Programming Languages.

The Department’s laboratory complex of essential facilities, include both general purpose and specialized laboratories. Laboratory courses are closely integrated with lecture courses. Students are therefore are able to gain invaluable experience with “hardware” and develop the skills, resources and knowledge essential for successful engineering practice.

Students who have been officially accepted to Tuskegee University must have on file an official final high school transcript which must indicate date of graduation and signature of school official and/or seal.

Students must provide evidence of health insurance prior to admission as well as an official report of their health status.

The test of English (TOEFL) is required of all international students whose native language is not English. It is strongly recommended that the TOEFL be taken on a date when the Test of Written English (TWE) is being administered as part of the test.
