Overview
They are trained in the key areas addressing both the physical and naturally built environment such as structural systems, geotechnical, transportation, environmental and water resources, and construction. Civil Engineers work with other engineers to typically work in areas that serve the public sector. N.C. A&T’s Civil Engineering Program was established in 1985. The first graduates completed their degrees in 1990. The program was first accredited in 1990 by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Our program has consistently maintained ABET accreditation and completed the last ABET general review in 2019.
ABET Program Educational Objectives
The objectives of the Civil Engineering program at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State Universityare to produce:
graduates employed as civil engineers with designations of at least Engineer-in-Training (EIT) and will demonstrate the ability to work productively in the main areas of civil engineering.
graduates who demonstrate the ability to function effectively on intra-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams or be in the process of completing post-baccalaureate studies or expanding their proficiency in civil engineering.
graduates who continue to learn and adapt to changing technologies, procedures and concepts in civil engineering.
graduates who demonstrate that they possess the skills and knowledge necessary to function effectively in roles of leadership and service in the communities where they will live and work,and that they are contributing to the welfare, quality of life, protection, and advancement of the community.

- If you are currently in F-1 or J-1 status inside the United States provide the OIA with documents confirming your current legal status to include the Certificate of Eligibility (I-20/DS-2019), the I-94 (front and back), a valid passport and U.S. visa stamp pages, etc. You must complete the SEVIS transfer process.
