With a rigorous curriculum in modern biology, extensive practical experiences with patients, and a focus on whole-person wellness, the Biology Health Sciences program of Taylor University meets requirements for a broad range of health sciences careers. Choose from concentrations in Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental, Pre-PA, Pre-Optometry, and Pre-Allied Health.

Range of Preparatory Courses

The Biology Health Sciences degree program goes beyond the standard courses that everyone studying health science needs. At Taylor, we take a holistic approach to health, with classes on public health, applied nutrition, and mental wellbeing. For example, Biology Health Sciences majors take Exercise as Medicine, a course to teach future healthcare providers to interact with patients and teach principles of whole-person health.

Get Outside the Classroom

Outside of the classroom and laboratory, majoring in Biology Health Sciences will offer unique opportunities to get involved in real-world experience. Learn on location in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Michigan, the Pacific Northwest, or Cuenca, Ecuador in field study or study abroad programs. You will also participate in practicums and assist professors in research surrounding microscopy, bone cells, and other areas of research. For example, faculty and student researchers are genetically engineering cells to better understand rare diseases and one day help find a cure.
