Overview
The Recreation Therapy and Applied Gerontology degree program from University of North Carolina Wilmington is designed to provide qualified students the means to complete the requirements for both degrees in a period of five years. The key feature of the program is that a student can count up to 12 hours of graduate-level courses to satisfy requirements for the B.A. in Recreation Therapy and toward the M.S. in Applied Gerontology.

General requirements
- Recreation Therapy majors who have completed at least 90 hours of undergraduate work, (b) have a minimum accumulated grade point average (GAP) of at least 3.0, (c) provide the names of two full-time recreation therapy professors who are familiar with their academic performance in 300-/400-level-classes and their practical experience, and (d) apply to the master’s degree program in gerontology.
- Non-refundable $80 application fee (check or money order in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to UNCW).
- Essay & short answer
- An official transcript, translated into English (translation must be certified), of grades from secondary school.
- TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, or Pearson test of English score unless: English is applicant's native language.
- Applicant has an SAT-I critical reading score of 450 or higher or an ACT minimum score of 20 on the reading section.
- A student successfully completes Level 4 in UNCW's ESL program.
