Overview

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers two programs leading to undergraduate degrees. The Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with Teacher Licensure from University of North Carolina Wilmington, certified by the American Chemical Society, prepares students intending to pursue a graduate degree or a career in chemistry.

Students planning to pursue licensure should apply to the Watson School of Education as soon as admissions requirements are met (typically in the sophomore year) and plan their programs in regular consultation with their advisors. Teacher licensure requirements are established at the state level and may be changed by the state at any time.

Non-refundable $80 application fee (check or money order in U.S. dollars and drawn on a U.S. bank, payable to UNCW).
Essay & short answer
An official transcript, translated into English (translation must be certified), of grades from secondary school.
TOEFL, IELTS, Duolingo English Test, or Pearson test of English score unless: English is applicant's native language.
Applicant has an SAT-I critical reading score of 450 or higher or an ACT minimum score of 20 on the reading section.
A student successfully completes Level 4 in UNCW's ESL program.
