Overview

At Communication - Media Production from Pittsburg State University students have the opportunity to take what they learn in the classroom and develop skills through live broadcast and streamcast productions of university events such as athletics, theater, music concerts, speaker series and much more. Successful graduates will have the skills necessary to succeed in both the traditional and digital realms of broadcast communication.

Students learn from award-winning media production professionals who understand today’s world of communication. Unlike other programs that make you wait until your final year of study to touch broadcast equipment, Pittsburg State students get hands-on during their first year. Students annually produce more than 100 live productions, ranging from international competitions to locally-produced newscasts.

Careers

Pittsburg State graduates are prepared for a variety of careers in industry, academia and government. Students will have the knowledge and skills to pursue a career in the rapidly developing field of digital communication as well as the more traditional broadcast areas such as television, radio, and production. Pittsburg State alumni have enjoyed successful careers with companies and organizations such as NBC, the NFL Network, ESPN, the Kansas City Chiefs Radio Network, the Kansas City Royals and the Phoenix Suns.
